FUR, FUR, FUR

Ok....I had to have this fur helmet of a hat! The brand is STETSON,
which also makes cowboy hats in the states. This has a leather bit on the back of the head with a little belt to make it tighter. It almost looks like one of those hats that the pilots or convertible drives would use in the 1920´s (loved that era!)- just with the furry ears.

I haven´t yet worn it out....since it´s been too hot of a Fall season here. Now, the snow and minus degrees can JUST COME!

Time for Tweed!

-Still living off the photos from Friday´s paper, DNL, here in Norway. (Have to credit them!)
Love the colors! I love the fall! And...isn´t this girl-absolutely...GORGEOUS?!

And....I admit to being a big fan of fur!!!! For crying out loud...if I ever get in a conversation with a anti-fur person, I would ask the following: Do you eat meat, dairy or fish/poultry? Do You wear leather or use wool products? Do you kill insects because they bother you or are in your way? If they say yes to the previous questions, then I have no understanding or respect for their views of not using fur. (Had to get THAT off my chest!)

Have a great Fur -oops- I mean FALL day!

Ole Lynggaard & Helena Christensen

Sorry for this photo- I iPhoned it off of yesterday´s paper, DNL, but I felt that I had to share this one!
First of all, I have always loved Helena Christensen, the Danish model that has been "around" since the 80`s with the likes of Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington. (All still model). Still going strong!
Anyways, I also love the jewelry from -also Danish, Ole Lynggaard! The fact that the two were to find each other-was just the question of time. Beauty+ beautiful=perfection.
Since I´m a Norwegian/American (grew up in the states), I have the chance to look at jewelry in the states, but I have never found anything like Ole Lynggaard. Here in Norway, it´s so expensive that one can buy three world diamonds for the price of one at Denmark´s jeweler. But, this style is SO AMAZING that there is no one else like it! In America, big is better; in Scandinavia, elegance is in the simplicity of small. Hmmm...that´s a thought!
Have a great weekend!

(notice Helena´s nail color and her eyes!) PERFECTION!

Harris Tweed was the topic in D2 of the days paper, Dagens Næringsliv (Today´s Business) in Norway.

I added this in my blog today because it is one of my favorite materials. I am a big fashion lover of Ralph Lauren and I love how the material can be used in skirts and blazers. (Ralph Lauren of course has copied his style from Great Britain.) This photo is taken in Isle of Harris- northwest of Scotland. This is the home of the business of Harris Tweed, in which it´s famous woven material, tweed, has been making it´s comeback again -thanks to fashion designers this fall.

I simply love this style because it´s classy, warm and timeless!

Don´t you love this photo- how the girl with her "tweeds" is just rising up from the ground?!

Shanghai

Ok. I am back. I haven´t been active because I simply thought nobody cared. (boohoo!) Ok. finished with the self-pity....
I am going to Shanghai with my girlfriends= yippee! Since this blog is about getting dressed up and going places, I will let you know what I am bringing, what I´ll be wearing, and my plans for purchases in China!
How to keep things simple- is hard, when one is complicated. But, I have lived and traveled for a while, so I know what works.
Next post, I will feature some photos! So stay tuned!

Ralph Lauren inspired

What a great thing for an American designer to be still going strong and still influencing the whole world! He has created an entire lifestyle not just fashion. Fashion comes and goes but a lifestyle passes from one generation to the next.

Ralph Lauren continues to inspires all to dream the dream- to live well. To put on a Ralph Lauren shirt, sweater, or whatever-makes ME feel-that I am a part of that dream. A big part of this has to do with the great quality and classic design of the product- whether it may be a Polo shirt or sheets on my bed. It withstands use and is timeless.

In a couple of months time, I am going to NYC to visit his new building in which he has renovated and polished -to house the Ralph Lauren lifestyle. I am looking so forward to it! When I was young, I could never afford anything of Ralph Lauren except if something went on 70% sale. (Bought a cashmere sweater-color apple green for $20) That was in 1987 and I still have it today and love it- and yes, I still use it!!!!! And today, I even buy most of his stuff at outlets when I go to America but, I still love to visit his "Flagship Stores." Wherever I run into them- whether it be in Paris, East Hampton, London, Milan, etc- I just LOVE to feel the dream while I walk into his world of PERFECTION.
